TOMÁŠ KOSTELECKÝ is the Director of the Institute of Sociology of the Czech Academy of Sciences and a senior researcher in its Department of Local and Regional Studies. He is professionally interested in the analysis of spatial aspects of human behaviour, local, regional, and comparative politics, socio-spatial inequalities and the social and political consequences of metropolisation and suburbanisation. He is the author of a number of books and regularly publishes work in domestic and international journals. He served as a member of Executive Committee of the European Sociological Association.
