Ongjerth, Richárd (1953) urbanist, spatial and urban planner, researcher, expert, lecturer. He has been working in field since 1980. First he was the lead planner of the rehabilitation and development of inner areas of Budapest, then after the regime change he directed the urban planning of several Hungarian municipalities, and took part in projects related to spatial planning. Between 1995-2008, he was director of the Centre for Urban Research of the Municipality of Budapest, between 2008-11 he was chair of the board of directors of Budapest-Józsefváros Rehabilitation and Urban Development Zrt., between 2008-16 he was the leader of the Hungarian Society for Urban Planning’ innovation centre.
He has been active in lecturing in higher education since 1993. He has been a lecturer at Ybl Miklós College, Eötvös Loránd University, Corvinus University of Budapest, and the National University of Public Service. Since 2003 he has been a research fellow in the Department of Sociology and Communication at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
He has been a member of the Hungarian Society for Urban Planning since 1987, and member of the board of directors since 1994.
Since 2016 he has worked as an urban development expert at the Ministry of Interior’s Office for Coordination of Municipal Affairs.
